Alcide: Officially a Gartner Cool Vendor in Cloud Security

May 15, 2018

Alcide was just named a Gartner‘s Cool Vendor in Cloud Security for 2018! This is huge news for us.

Needless to say, we were thrilled and very honored to receive such recognition. The achievement is all the more remarkable for it having occurred so early in our company’s history.

It was only in April that we announced our product’s general availability and came back from the AWS Summit in San Francisco, where we were simply bowled over by the positive response to our cloud-native security platform.

And today we’re standing here with a Cool Vendor in Cloud Security recognition under our belt, which we believe affirms our tech and validates all our hard work over the past few months. We feel this achievement is all the more remarkable for it having occurred so early in our company’s history.

Gartner defines a Cool Vendor as a company that is innovative, impactful and intriguing. In our humble opinion, it’s a very accurate description of Alcide.

DevOps: We Feel Your (Cloud Security) Pain

We believe our Security Platform is “cool” for several important reasons. For one, it secures workloads that span any combination of virtual machines, containers or serverless. It protects cloud infrastructure and applications by applying policies across hybrid cloud environments.

Maybe most importantly though, our platform is cool because it provides a depth and breadth of visibility and control that would simply be otherwise impossible.

Gadi Naor, our CTO and co-founder, likes to comment that Alcide was born cool. We feel Gartner’s acknowledgment only reinforces that notion and tells us that we’re definitely on the right track.

As a company that ourselves uses three different private clouds, couple of dozens Kubernetes clusters and try to get a handle of cloud provider security groups, we found ourselves in a unique position to understand the involved pains when we embarked on our journey to consolidated cloud workload protection. This pain and the daily hassles that underlie it provide the motivation for us to develop a platform that is easy to manage, can be intuitively acted upon, is interoperable, and delivers 360-degree security.

DevOps, security teams, and cloud architects looking to have visibility, control, and protection over their cloud workloads — all in one platform — are exactly the type of users we had in mind when we designed and developed the platform.

At Alcide, we like to say the goal is a platform that works for you, without you working for it. It’s that idea that drives us every day to be the best cloud security company that we can be.

If you wish to meet us in person and get a chance to see our platform in action, you have plenty of opportunities: we will be at O’Reilly Velocity’s event in San Jose, on June 12, at DockerCon San-Francisco on June 14, and at AWS Summit in New York on July 17. Come say “hi”!
